Aerocraft Installs Permanent Dust Collectors

During its October 9, 2018 meeting, the Paramount Planning Commission approved a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for Aerocraft Heat Treating Co. to install and operate four dust collectors for greater pollution control. The four dust collectors will replace a pair of temporary collectors that have been in use for nearly two years.

Aerocraft is involved in the heat treatment process of steel, titanium, and other materials that are typically subjected to high temperatures. The installation of new, permanent dust collectors will target contaminants that result from these processes.

The new dust collectors will utilize an ultra-low particulate air (ULPA) filtration system to remove indoor contaminants, including hexavalent chromium, from work areas and prevent these contaminants from being emitted into the outdoor air. With an efficiency rate of 99.997%, the ULPA filtration system will allow Aerocraft to comply with its Stipulated Order for Abatement as well as the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s (SCAQMD) Rule 402.
