Sustainable Paramount, Green and Renewable, will be held at the Paramount Civic Center on Saturday, March 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This free event will feature a variety of vendors, workshops, and informational booths with facts, trends, tips, and ideas on how to create and live an environmentally sustainable future.
There will be free raffle prizes such as water-saving kits, emergency preparedness bags, first aid kits, an electric lawnmower, solar lights, and more. There will also be complimentary food.
Vendors will include the Discovery Science Center, the Aquarium of the Pacific, The Home Depot, AQMD, GRID Alternatives of Greater L.A., UC Master Gardener Program, Long Beach Conservation Corps, Amigos de la Rios, Friends of the L.A. River, Toyota of Cerritos, So. Cal. Edison, The Gas Company, and more.

Edit 3/6/18: SCAQMD’s Governing Board voted on March 2, 2018 to not set the Public Hearing for April 6, 2018. As such, the Public Hearing for Proposed Amended Rule 1469 has been delayed. Additional information and updated schedule for PAR 1469 will be presented at the Stationary Source Committee meeting on March 16, 2018.
The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) will host a public hearing for Proposed Amended Rule (PAR) 1469 on Friday, April 6, 2018. This date has been extended from February 2, 2018 in order to provide SCAQMD staff time to evaluate concerns recently received from the public regarding the toxicity of chemical fume suppressants and work with stakeholders.
Due to the delay, the December 15, 2017 comment deadline has been extended. A new comment deadline and additional information will be provided at a later date.
The City of Paramount Planning Commission is expected to make a final decision on the Air Quality Sub Committee’s recommendations for amending the City’s industrial zoning regulations in response to the air quality situation. This decision follows the group’s review of the proposed changes during a Study Session on Monday, March 19th.
The proposed zoning recommendations are sweeping and comprise of the culmination of the Sub Committee’s work. The proposed changes will have a huge impact on the future of the City.
