Reduce Your Waste
Waste reduction is beneficial for the community and the environment. The City of Paramount encourages residents to reuse items and recycle whenever possible.
Recycling is the practice of recovering used materials from the waste stream and then incorporating those same materials into the manufacturing process, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills.
The City of Paramount’s trash and recycling service provider, CalMet Services, Inc., provides residents with blue recycling barrels as well as green green-waste barrels to properly sort their recyclables.
Blue barrels may contain:
- Plastic milk jugs
- Soda/juice bottles
- Toiletry bottles
- Glass
- Food jars
- Aluminum/metal cans
- Coat hangers
- Foil
- Empty aerosol containers
- Junk mail
- Cardboard egg cartons
- Paper shopping bags
- Non-metallic wrapping paper
- Newspapers and magazines
All milk jugs, bottles, glasses, food jars and containers must be emptied and rinsed out.
Green barrels may contain:
- Grass clippings
- Weeds
- Leaves
- Branches under 4 feet long and 4 inches in diameter
- Brush/hedge trimmings
- Please do not bag your green waste in plastic trash bags or place bags, rocks, palm fronds, cactus, ice plant, or yucca inside these bins.
- Commercial businesses also receive recycling and organics recycling services at a discounted rate.
