As California continues to face drought conditions each year, every drop of water is a precious resource. To properly navigate these long-term climatic changes and ensure a sustainable water supply for our community, Paramount residents are encouraged to implement water conservation practices into their daily lives.

The California Department of Water Resources and the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) of Southern California recommend the following indoor and outdoor conservation practices:
Indoor Conservation Tips
- Fix leaks promptly.
- Install high-efficiency toilets, high-efficiency washing machines, aerators on bathroom and kitchen faucets, and water-efficient shower heads.
- Defrost food in the refrigerator instead of under running water.
- Take shorter showers.
- Track your water bill and meter to curtail water use.
- Turn off water when brushing your teeth or shaving.
- Use dishwashers and washing machines with full loads only.
Outdoor Conservation Tips
- Plant drought-tolerant/resistant plants and trees.
- Recycle indoor water to use on plants.
- Refrain from watering your home landscape when it rains.
- Water outdoor landscaping earlier in the day when temperatures are cooler to prevent evaporation of irrigation water.
- Use drip emitters or spot- and hand-watering instead of inefficient spray heads.
- Replace your grass/turf with water-wise plants.
- Use a broom to clean outdoor areas instead of water from a hose.
