On October 6, 2026, the City of Paramount informed the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) after recent air quality testing detected elevated levels of hexavalent chromium at 15701 Minnesota Ave. This follows three consecutive tests at the location exceeding the 1 nanograms per cubic meter (ng/m³) reporting threshold.

The City remains dedicated to transparency, and as part of its ongoing air quality management efforts has continued to conduct weekly monitoring tests from strategically placed monitors throughout the community in partnership with Trinity Consultants.

At 15701 Minnesota Ave., testing on September 29 recorded an elevated reading of 1.02 ng/m³. Prior samples also showed elevated levels, including 1.124 ng/m3 on September 23 and 1.185 ng/m³ on September 17.

This monitoring location has previously recorded elevated samples including dates in August 2026, May 2026, January 2026 and September 2025. To learn more about air quality monitoring and view previous test results, visit: www.ParamountEnvironment.org/Air.
