In August 2018, the City of Paramount’s Residential Air Purifier and HVAC Filter Rebate Program went into effect. Designed to aid residents in buying “True HEPA” indoor air purifiers or HVAC filters with a MERV value of 13, the rebates reimburse up to $100 of the cost of the purifiers (total estimated cost $150-$250) or up to $50 for the filters ($50 average cost).
Paramount is located near major transportation routes and the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. The goal of the program is to address diesel-related pollutants and help improve air quality in Paramount homes.
Three months after the program went live, 85 participants had initiated the rebate request and the City had issued checks to 44 participants. By January 2019, 46 participants have been able to benefit from the program. To date, the City has issued $4,232.62 in rebates, leaving a balance of $5,767.37 remaining for additional rebates.
To qualify for the rebate, you must be a Paramount resident. The rebate is available one time per household for either an air purifier unit OR an HVAC filter. You must submit an online application with a copy of the receipt within 60 days of the purchase date.
