July 2022 marked one year since the City of Paramount adopted its Climate Action Plan (CAP). The City is proud to highlight the various strategies implemented and milestones reached in its efforts to make Paramount more environmentally sustainable.
The City of Paramount continues to implement strategies outlined in its Climate Action Plan. The most recent effort includes its approval to proceed with Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Charge Ready Program, which would provide the City with 10 electric vehicle (EV) charging ports at Paramount Park and another 12 at Progress Park.
On April 11, 2022, the Paramount City Council approved the plans and permits for the AltAir/World Energy Renewable Fuels Conversion Project that will end petroleum-based operations at the company’s facility and replace them entirely with renewable fuel production.
The City of Paramount has been awarded a $891,984 grant from the Los Angeles County Safe, Clean Water (SCW) Program to design the Spane Park Stormwater Capture Project. Funding for the construction of the project is still being procured, and the project is merely in the design phase.
On June 8, 2022, Paramount City Council approved the implementation of Stage 2 of the City’s Water Shortage Contingency Plan, which requires additional prohibited measures to be put in effect.
The City of Paramount is in the process of issuing Administrative Action permits to its 16 metal-related businesses in town. Following recommendations set forth by the City Council Air Quality Sub Committee in 2018, Paramount implemented a new Administrative Action permit program to provide closer oversight of potential air quality issues generated at these facilities.
The City of Paramount adopts an Environmental Justice Element as part of the General Plan.
