In late 2025, the City Council approved 17 detached two-story single-family homes at 16635-16683 Paramount Boulevard. The homes – known as “Entrada” – are beginning construction in February. The site is the former location of the United Methodist Church,
auto repair shop, and a restaurant/bar that had all suffered neglect and fallen into disrepair at this prominent southern gateway to Paramount.
The home sizes will range from 1,707 square feet to 1,860 square feet on compact properties. Notably, the 17 homes will be all-electric (no natural gas), solar panels will be installed, and the garages will be electric vehicle (EV) charging ready. With City of Paramount assistance, three of the 17 homes will be sold to qualifying low-to-moderate income households. More information will be available in the coming months.
In July 2021, the City Council adopted the Paramount Climate Action Plan. The 17-home development meets six local greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction measures of the Climate Action Plan, including Measure EE2: Promote Green Building in New Construction and Major Renovations; Measure RE3: Promote Electrification of Buildings and Appliances; Measure TR1: Support Fuel-Efficient and Alternative-Fuel Vehicles; Measure LU1: Promote Smart Growth, Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), and Complete Neighborhoods; Measure WA1: Promote Water Conservation; and Measure WR1: Solid Waste Diversion Programs.
