The Paramount City Council formed the Air Quality Sub Committee at the end of 2016 to study available information and discuss policy options for the City to address prevalent air quality issues. During the final Air Quality Sub Committee meeting in October, the group reviewed and finalized a draft zoning ordinance for metal-related companies.
Vice Mayor Diane Martinez, Council Member Daryl Hofmeyer, and Assistant City Manager Kevin Chun presented these recommended zoning code amendments to the full City Council on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. After giving a short recap of the role of the Sub Committee and how the actions will affect future Paramount businesses, Mr. Chun provided a summary of proposed modifications. He then informed the Council that the draft changes were ready to be reviewed by the Planning Commission.
The Planning Commission will thoroughly examine the changes by February 2018. Once the proposed recommendations have been approved, they will return to the City Council for final review and approval in March 2018.
