The City of Paramount provided a list of metal-related businesses located within its borders to the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) after air quality monitors registered elevated levels of hexavalent chromium in the Fall of 2016. This list was supplemented by additional businesses researched by residents in the Paramount community. SCAQMD further increased the list after identifying facilities through their established permit database, as well as adding facilities of various types so as to accomplish a complete inspection of all businesses within their jurisdiction.
After an extensive investigation into verifying which facilities on this list were still in operation, and were in the metal-emitting category, City staff identified 17 businesses in total that require SCAQMD permits for metal-emitting processing. These businesses are listed below:

- Ace Clearwater Enterprises (Forming)
- Aerocraft Heat Treating Co. (Heat Treating)

- Golden State Engineering (Machine Shop)
- M & N Manufacturing (Machine Shop)
- Fenico Precision Castings, Inc. (Manufacturing)
- International Metal Trading Inc and CM Metal & Alloys (Manufacturing)
- Procast Industries (Manufacturing)
- Paramount Metal & Supply Co. (Manufacturing)
- Wagner Plate Works West Inc. (Plating)
- Anaplex Corporation (Plating)
- Goldstar Wire Wheels (Polishing)
- S.T. & I. Inc. (Polishing)
