The City of Paramount’s General Plan guides land development to meet the vision and needs of the community. The General Plan is divided into “elements” – including one for housing. Since 1969, California has required that all local governments adequately plan to meet the housing needs of everyone in the community by adopting housing plans as part of their general plans.
California law also requires periodic updates of the Housing Element, and the latest in Paramount must be adopted by the City Council by October 2021.
The success of the Housing Element update requires extensive community engagement and input. You can join upcoming meetings on February 1 (English) and February 3 (Spanish), which will be held on Zoom and also feature a discussion on Environmental Justice.
