The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, and the California Air Pollution Control Officers Association will co-host a day–and-a-half networking conference titled “Making Sense of Sensors” to gather experts from government, academia, environmental and research organizations, community groups, and industry to learn and share the latest information on low-cost, portable air quality sensors. Journalists are invited to attend and will have access to leading air quality sensor experts.

Keynote speakers from Weather Underground and Microsoft will address the audience. More than 30 speakers will discuss topics including: the history of air quality sensors, recent advances in technology, data interpretation and mapping, and ways environmental justice communities can benefit from using air quality sensors.

Participants will have opportunities to tour the SCAQMD’s Air Quality Sensor Performance Evaluation Center (AQ-SPEC) laboratory, and to attend poster sessions on research, case studies, and technology demonstrations. There will also be an exhibit hall with displays and representatives from manufacturers, vendors and developers.
