On December 14, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Hearing Board held proceedings to consider the request for an Order for Abatement petition filed against Anaplex Corporation and Aerocraft Heat Treating Company. Filed by SCAQMD, the petition required the two companies to take actions to reduce their emissions of hexavalent chromium. The Hearing Board held their meeting at the SCAQMD Auditorium at 21865 Copley Drive, Diamond Bar, CA 91765.
In order to better serve its residents and allow for a greater amount of community participation and informed learning, the City of Paramount provided free transportation for anyone who wanted to attend the hearing. The city spread this information through its social media network, encouraging residents to reserve a seat at the meeting and then hop on the bus leaving at 11:30AM from Paramount Park Community Center.
The City additionally made the hearing available to be viewed via live-stream video. The live-stream was shown within the City Council Chambers at City Hall, beginning at 1:00PM.
