City Issues Statement On Report of Paramount Testing Lab Fraud

The Press-Telegram has reported on accusations of fraud being conducted on the Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories – a business located in the City of Paramount . The article headline “Owner of Paramount testing lab is facing charges of fraud and altering data” may lead to confusion about if and how Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories might be connected to City of Paramount’s ongoing environmental testing efforts. There is no connection.

The City has never used Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories for any testing related to water quality or soil samples for work it has conducted related to the hexavalent chromium matters. Additionally, the hexavalent chromium air monitor results routinely reported by AQMD are tested by their own labs in Diamond Bar, CA.

Water quality testing for the City of Paramount is conducted by Weck Laboratories, Inc. located in the City of Industry. To learn more about the lab, visit their website at: http://www.wecklabs.com/

Prior soil sample testing, in partnership with the Department of Toxic Substance Control and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health used the following labs: American Environmental Testing Laboratory in Burbank, California and Eurofins CalScience.
